CMN Hospital, CHOP 2023 Recap
Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring every child receives the best possible care. At Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), we focus on creating countless breakthroughs designed to support young patients and their families. Built on a foundation of delivering safe, high-quality, family-centered care, the Hospital has fostered medical discoveries and innovations that have improved pediatric healthcare and saved countless children’s lives.
In 2023, we deepened our relationships with CMN Hospitals partners, connected our community with our mission, and raised significant funds for patients in need of our care at local CMN Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. To highlight the impact CMN Hospitals has on our community, here’s a recap of our year!
Costco Wholesale – Costco is committed to improving the health of kids, allowing them the opportunity to grow to their full potential. Throughout the month of May, Costco hosted their annual fundraising campaign, offering every member to give a donation at check out. Since 1988, Costco employees and members have donated more than $469 million for kids treated at local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In 2023, they raised a record breaking, $402,000 for CHOP!
Walmart – Walmart is amongst one of our highest fundraising partners in 2023, with a raising a generous amount of money for children and families. Walmart continues to raise over half a million dollars for CHOP every year!
Life Time Fitness – The Life Time Foundation is committed to helping children live healthy, happy lives. On April 29th, Life Time hosted its annual “Ride of a Life Time” cycling charity event. Members from around the world were able to join, in-person or virtually, for a heart-pounding collaboration of Life Time’s signature indoor cycle formats. At CHOP, we saw a significant year over year increase with our Life Time partnership, increasing fundraising by nearly $10,000 from 2022.
JOANN – From August throughout September, JOAAN hosted a point-of-sales campaign, supporting our initiative to change the future of kids’ health by allowing customers to donate to local CMN Hospitals at checkout! For each purchase, customers were given the opportunity to donate a small amount that went directly to support CMN Hospitals and the exceptional care for young patients. As a result, the campaign raised over $30,000 in our market.
Ace Hardware – Ace Hardware has been a CMN partner since 1991, but in 2023, they became proud members of CHOP’s President ‘s Circle, reserved exclusively for those whose cumulative giving to CHOP exceeds $1 million. We are honored to have Ace as a devoted partner of CMN Hospitals!
Marriott – On October 19th, The Philadelphia Marriott Business Council and PlayYellow presented the inaugural SWING FORe MIRACLES, a TopGolf Tournament for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. All tickets included 3 hours of free play, food, drinks, and parking! In addition to the tournament, there was a chance for 50/50 and silent auction items for bid.
Overall Impact – In 2023, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) embarked on an inspiring journey with their Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partnerships, leaving an extraordinary mark on the community. Our market highlighted an unwavering commitment to the well-being of children, building awareness around pediatric needs. These campaigns fueled groundbreaking research, support, and medical advancements for patients and families treated at CHOP. CHOP’s CMN campaigns in 2023 stand as a testament to the transformative power of collective compassion, displaying how acts of kindness can impact the lives of children and their families.
CHOP News – In March, CHOP’s Neuroscience Center released news that they’ve developed a prediction model that determines which newborn babies are likely to experience seizures in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Last October, CHOP was the first in the United States to perform gene therapy procedure to treat genetic hearing loss. The patient this clinical trial was tested on could hear for the first time, and his hearing improved. Because of the funds raised from CMN Hospitals, CHOP continues to be the beacon of hope for millions of families worldwide.
As we take on 2024, we must recognize 2023’s victories. It is also evident that our collaborative efforts with esteemed partners like Costco, Walmart, and Ace Hardware have truly made a difference. Together, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones in support of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Amidst the achievements, it’s crucial to extend our gratitude to the real heroes of this journey – the patients and their families.
