Costco is Helping CHOP Change Kids’ Health May 1st-31st
Local children’s hospitals are on the frontlines when protecting the health of future generations. But they can’t do it alone. Each dollar that Costco and its members raise through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) improves the health of kids allowing them the opportunity to grow to their full potential.
During the month of May, you can help to change kids’ health for local children’s hospitals through CMN Hospitals during the annual Costco fundraising campaign. Shop online or in-warehouse at Costco, donate to help kids like Jesse and Jonah.
Jesse and Jonah are brothers that were born three years apart and have shared the same medical journey. Jesse was born with a cleft lip and palate. He was diagnosed before he was born, so his parents met with specialists at the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to learn about his treatment plan. At 4 days old, Jesse had the first of several procedures to repair his cleft lip and palate. After the surgeries he was able to speak and eat more efficiently. When Jesse’s mom was 20 weeks pregnant with his little brother, she had an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech got quiet as he examined her baby’s face, so she asked if he had a cleft lip and palate like his brother. The doctor confirmed her suspicion and said the chance of both boys having this condition was less than 2%. Jonah was born in the Special Delivery Unit at CHOP and cared for by the same medical team that had treated his brother. After surgeries to repair his cleft lip and palate, 2-year-old Jonah is thriving. Today these two brothers are happy, healthy and the best of friends.
The Costco fundraising campaign runs through May 31 where funds go to local children’s hospitals through CMN Hospitals to directly help kids like Jesse and Jonah have a life full of wonder and possibility. Since 1988, Costco employees and members have donated more than $469 million for kids treated at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Today, we are transforming a child’s future. Together, we see what the future can be and we’re working to make it a reality. One way you and Costco are helping is by donating at the register to fund the most urgent needs of local children’s hospitals.
Through donations collected during the annual campaign, hospitals can provide treatments and healing patients desperately need today so that they can fulfill their potential for tomorrow—ultimately having ripple effects that positively impact our communities for years to come.
With your help, we can change kids’ health to change the future.
